Silver Strike Concrete supplied approximately 15,000 cubic yards of ready mix concrete for the Oddie Boulevard – Wells Avenue Multimodal Improvements Project, working with Granite Construction Company on a major transportation and infrastructure improvement connecting Reno and Sparks, Nevada.
The project transformed approximately 3.2 miles of Wells Avenue and Oddie Boulevard, extending from Pyramid Way in Sparks to Interstate 80 in Reno. Designed as a Complete Streets initiative, the corridor reconstruction improved transportation infrastructure while creating safer and more accessible connections for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, residents, and businesses throughout the area.
Improvements included reconstruction of the roadway with up to five travel lanes, new concrete raised medians, continuous sidewalks, a separated 10-foot-wide shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists, a raised cycle track, new street and pedestrian lighting, landscaping, decorative privacy screen walls, and fencing. The scale and variety of improvements required extensive concrete work throughout the corridor.
Working alongside Granite Construction, Silver Strike Concrete supplied approximately 15,000 cubic yards of concrete to support construction of this significant Northern Nevada infrastructure project. Reliable ready mix production and delivery were essential as work progressed across the heavily traveled corridor and through both residential and commercial areas of Reno and Sparks.
The completed project was honored as the 2024 Transportation Project of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers Truckee Meadows Branch, recognizing its impact on transportation, safety, accessibility, and connectivity in the region.
