We were happy to join the Boy Scouts of America, Nevada Area Council, for the exciting TJ Day Annual Sporting Clay Classic this June! We attended as Star Sponsors for this event with a five-person team from Silver Strike Concrete there to represent our business and support a great cause! Proceeds from this event went to benefit the BSA, Nevada Area Council.
Here’s a brief history of the Nevada Area Council:
The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for youth and young adults to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of participatory citizenship and to develop personal fitness.
The Nevada Area Council, BSA was granted a charter by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America in 1924 and charged with the responsibility of organizing and supporting successful Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venturing Crews, Explorer Posts and Learning for Life Groups within its 101,355 square mile geographical boundary. Our boundary includes northern Nevada and northeastern California.
The Nevada Area Council operates a full-service Scout office located in Reno, Nevada. The Scout office offers a full line of uniforms, official camping gear, handicrafts, literature and Scouting accessories. The Council operates one premiere camping facility, Camp Fleischmann, near Chester, CA. Under the guidance of the Scout Executive, the Nevada Area Council has a professional staff of 8 and an office staff of 4 who work in cooperation with adult volunteers in delivering the program of Scouting to the youth of our communities. A Scouting professional’s responsibility is to recruit, train and motivate volunteers and to support successful Scout units.
